Companies that will protect your personal information on the web sell monthly subscriptions. baby boomers want to protect their privacy and personal information while net-gens was to expose themselves and be found.

Week 7 - Podcasting and online hosted video

Posting a video on the web is a useful tool since it does not have to reside on my own pc and can be accessed anywhere there is an internet connection.

Week 6 Online photo sharing

Flickr makes it easy to store photos online that makes them accessbile wherever you are and whenever you need them. It avoids using storage space on your personal pc.

Wikis - Week 2

Wikis are a great way to share documents with a group. Group members can easily contribute and edit a common document or the information in a website.

Web Office Tools - Week 5

Web office tools are a great way to share and edit documents on the web---without sending e-mails and attachments. This seems to be an option for a group to easily edit a document. However, here at work in the hospital, posts are very slow. The lack of speed in bringing up a document is a hinderence at this point. If that is improved, this may be the way software products are used in the future. I'm not sure about the confidentiality of these web-based products especially for important and sensitive documents. Social bookmarking is very interesting. It helps create a web of connections to information and helps to connect to other people in a very unique way. I also like the fact that it doesn't depend on the computer that you are on but rather it is accessible on the web wherever you may have internet access. That's real access!

Social networking sites help you to connect to colleagues and friends and help you to make new friends.

Week 1 - Initial Family Blog

This is an initial blog that I set up as a practice to learn blogging. This site is not private. I've also set up another blog that is private----for invited people only. I've begun to work on family genealogy again and hope to post items to the private blog.

Next Sunday is Palm Sunday and my front and back yards are still covered with snow/ice mix. Today it's expected to reach 50 degrees and be sunny. On Saturday, we expect to have snow. We've received over 50 inches of snow this year, had ice conditions for most of Jan. & Feb and had bitter cold temperatures with wind chills in the -20's to -30's. CJ
